Fair Credit Reporting

As consumers, our credit score and the accuracy of information in our credit report have become vital to our ability to function in today’s economy. Not only do they affect our ability to get credit, but also the cost and conditions of that credit, and the ability to get insurance, employment, and rental housing. Federal law requires the credit reporting agencies to maintain reasonable procedures to assure maximum possible accuracy of the information in a consumer’s credit report.

Recognizing how important our credit records are, Congress has stated that "unfair credit methods undermine the public confidence which is essential to the continued functioning of the banking system."

You may want to consult an experienced attorney if:

  • Your credit report contains inaccurate information
  • A business has reviewed your credit report without a permissible purpose
  • Someone is using your credit without your consent (identity theft)

You can get your credit score at www.e-loan.com.

You can make an appointment for a consultation with our office by calling us at (707) 545-6370.
